He was apparently kept out of the loop about plans for the traffic stop that led to the arrest of Ammon Bundy and several others, and the shooting death of LaVoy Finicum.
Now Palmer is facing more than half a dozen complaints – some from law enforcement agencies – about his actions during the standoff.
Palmer is outspoken about gun rights and is sympathetic to anti-government protesters. The sheriff’s office even posted a video clip featuring Palmer on its website.
“People are tired of the oppression from their government,” he says in the video. “And at some point it’s got to stop or we’re gonna have problems.”
But complaints, including one from the John Day 911 center and John Day’s chief of police to Oregon’s Department of Public Safety Standards and Training claim Palmer stepped over the line during the refuge standoff, helping keep the militia informed of law enforcement efforts to end the occupation.
“We received a number of complaints from residents of Grant County alleging misconduct, or potential misconduct, by Sheriff Palmer,” said Eriks Gabliks, spokesman for DPSST.
The DPSST replied to the complaints by saying its preliminary investigation shows Palmer’s actions “may violate the Board’s certification standards.” That means Palmer could be stripped of his state law enforcement credentials.
“They appear to be very serious and require that we look into them, and we’ve asked the Oregon Department of Justice to conduct the investigation on our behalf,” Gabliks said.
It wouldn’t be the first time the DPSST has taken action against a sheriff. In 2008, Multnomah County Sheriff Bernie Giusto resigned as the DPSST was wrapping up an investigation into alleged misconduct by Giusto.
Palmer declined KATU’s request for comment.
The DPSST said it is not clear how long the Oregon Department of Justice investigation into Palmer’s actions may take
TRUMP is winning and bringing hell with him !! HEROES !!
SEAL Commander J.W. Price took his own life while still on deployment. He was a father of a nine year daughter and kept her picture on his desk, apparently taking it with him to his room on that sad final journey. I have a similar aged daughter, and I’m afraid the similarities don’t stop there. Without wanting to commit too much to the specific details of this story, I’m pretty sure that what drove such an incredible warrior for the US to do what he did that night, would not have been the loss of the four soldiers, or relations with the Afghan partner force. I had the honor to serve alongside SEALs in Afghanistan in 2011. They are incredible soldiers and great ambassadors for their country. Those who lead them, like Job Price, are just about as ‘unbreakable’ as they come. Again with utmost respect to CDR Price and his loved ones, there no danger ‘outside’ that can cause such a man to do such a thing, it’s only the danger within. All too often it’s when these incredible Americans come to believe that the code of honour, trust and honesty by which they live and die, is seen as some sort of quaint charade by those that Command them at the highest levels.
The US needs to fight wars to remain ‘the US’. But US soldiers must never be pawns in internal political struggles, whether it is the ‘top brass’ competing for the top job’, or elected official who wants to ‘look tough’. If leaders make a serviceman feel he has been ‘used’ by them, they may as well have pulled the trigger themselves. The opsroom.com
seeks to ensure that both political and military leaders in both the US and Australia, are aware that their Special Operations forces are not ‘fire and forget’ weapons. “You send ’em’, you support ’em. Period.” We see it as a personal crusade to make sure those same leaders understand there’ a whole lot more than ‘mission success’ at stake.
Matter Founder: Its Racist To Say White Lives Matter.
A Marine war hero, Sgt. Christopher Marquez, who was beaten by a group of Black Lives Matter supporters after racially taunting him are not going to be charged with committing a hate crime.
All the facts in the case point towards a racially motivated attack. Racial slurs were directed at the victim before and during the attack on the Marine.
If this isn’t a hate crime then no such thing exists. This clearly appears to be another double standard in the age of Obama’s America. One has to wonder what the outcome would be if the victim where a black person with a group of white people calling the victim racial slurs before attacking.
In that case they would be most likely a free trip to the White House to meet the President, high-fiving with Al Sharpton on the evening news, a call by liberals to stop the madness and maybe even a riot or two.
More from Fox News:
Two teens who were arrested for attacking a decorated Marine in Washington D.C. will not be facing hate crime charges – despite evoking race before beating and robbing him, said the veteran.Former Sgt. Christopher Marquez told Fox and Friends yesterday that so far a male and a female teenager have been charged in connection with his attack at a local McDonald’s.
The male is being charged with aggravated assault, and the female with pickpocketing, said Marquez.
But the Marine hero says this doesn’t take into account his report that the teens had called him a racist, and asked him if “black lives matter.”
Surveillance footage shows the suspects knocking Marquez unconscious, before reportedly running away with his wallet.
“I believe that I should get the same type of protection as other people in this country,” the veteran told Brian Kilmeade.
“We all know that if this were the other way around, it would be considered a hate crime automatically.”
Video of the attack can be seen here:
