Assemblywoman Shelly SHEDNB & MICHELE FIORE

<meta http-equiv=”refresh” content=”0; URL=/Unity-through-Solutions-Mississippi-1618406628471304/notifications/?_fb_noscript=1″ />(7) Facebook

This is the man. This is a man who understands the cure for our nation. This is a man who sees it is not the government who holds the key to repairing the damaged hearts of our children. This is a man who has found the key and changed his own life.

Yet this is the man Republicans believe should have a stain on his reputation for life for youthful crimes. This is the man Republicans believe can only be stopped from criminal activity by years in a cage like an animal.

This is the man Democrats believe should be silenced and told to keep his beliefs to himself. This is the man Democrats believe is the exception rather than the rule.

This is the man most Americans believe should be unable to protect his family from criminals for life because: “Once a criminal always a criminal” or “play stupid games get stupid prizes” or many of a million other meaningless, mindless and Godless phrases.

Christianity is a religion of second chances and lifechanging opportunity. If we claim to be Christians, yet stand in the way of the opportunity when this lifechanging miracle happens it doesn’t matter if we are Democrats or Republicans, we have chosen the wrong side.

It’s time we, as a nation, accept our guilt, proclaim his miracles, and get out of the way of his work.

Please visit http://www.shellysheltonnevada for more information on how I am trying to do my part in Nevada. I would appreciate your vote and your support. Thank you.

Larry Akers If he committed a felony he shouldn’t be allowed to own a gun.
If he was convicted he should serve his time in incarceration but part of his sentence is revocation of certain rights. Just as a pedophile has to always register as a sex offender so do other convicted felons lose certain rights. That doesn’t keep him from preaching the gospel or pursuing his dreams once he is released from prison.

Assemblywoman Shelly Shelton I completely disagree. There were many convicted or wanted felons in the Bible such as Moses and David.

Assemblywoman Shelly Shelton Moses is now IN the promised land. I appreciate your honesty and for getting the dialogue open in this thread. Remember, Joseph was a convicted rapist.

Assemblywoman Shelly Shelton Many suffer jobless and with an inability to protect their families for the same crime Clinton, Bush, Obama, and now Obama’s daughter have all committed. It’s time to stop quenching the spirit and allow the Lord to complete his work.

Larry Akers Nothing about owning a firearm or voting can quench God’s Spirit.
To use your analogy with David, he can use a sling and 3 stones… Or the jawbone of an ass like Samson.
And regarding Moses, he never set foot in the promised land so that’s a bit of a reach to say his bones made it.

Larry Akers I do agree that those in power should be held accountable but that’s a different topic..

Assemblywoman Shelly Shelton His spirit is in the ultimate promised land. And his reason for not being allowed into the promised land had nothing to do with the laws of man, but rather, had to do with his striking the rock when he was told by God to speak to it. There was only one time in history when a kingdom was lead by God alone. That time was after the Israelites left Egypt and prior to Saul. We could learn a lot from that time. When God was “King” there were no “prisons”. There were sanctuary cities (jails) where the accused were held before trial. After trial there was judgement. The punishment was physical, monetary, or death. There was no lengthy caging of humans like animals. There was no “scarlet letter” to follow them around for life. There was a chance at redemption and a change of heart. If that didn’t happen, and they continued to prey on others, they were exiled or executed. We could learn a lot from the one and only time in history when we had a perfect KING.

Assemblywoman Shelly Shelton Regarding the pedophiles, there should be no list. Except an obituary list. Once we get our justice system reformed so that the innocent aren’t prosecuted by angry spouses or others with bad motives a jury should be able to keep up with that list pretty easy.

Larry Akers My point is, if one commits a felony there is a steep price to pay upon conviction. Neither of the rights taken keep one from pursuing Gods will. As for protection of ones home, a firearm is obviously the best defense but not the only one. This is the price one pays for committing a felony.
If you want to discuss reform that’s a different matter but I’m not the almighty so I’d rather not have any felon have a gun than to try and judge the heart of a man once he’s left prison. It’s really that simple.

Assemblywoman Shelly Shelton Larry Akers Thanks for your input. I understand it, just believe it dampens the light that could shine from God’s grace. Studies have shown that a “felon” with no further convictions after 5 years is much less likely to every be convicted again. After 10 years almost none re-offend. After 20 years they are half as likely to be convicted than you or I. (probably because they are more cautious at even being accidentally found in a felon situation) Of course those in prison should not have firearms. Jefferson said “No Free man should ever be debarred the use of arms”.

Larry Akers I’ll gladly stick with the ban being in place until reform is made regarding the system and punishment.
I’m all for non violent offenders regaining their privilege once they’ve finished probation but never want a violent offender to have that privilege again. Harsher punishment and making Capital punishment standard nationwide is a good start but until then we owe the populace to err on the side of caution.

John Miller Larry do you understand that Rights and Privileges are 2 completely different things ?

Larry Akers

Larry Akers Yes, and if you read my comments I agreed that with proper reform I’d agree that all but violent offenders would regain them after a time. But if we keep letting violent pieces of garbage back on the street then as I said I’d rather err on the side of caution than risk the innocent.

Assemblywoman Shelly Shelton Larry Akers Thank you Larry. I believe that even a violent criminal can be changed by the love of Christ and deserves better than a lifetime of potential victimhood from true predators. I hope, as time goes by, that you will pepper your conversation regarding firearms rights with your agreement that the “one size fits all” violation of the 2nd amendment isn’t fair and help me get some legislation passed that gives those who have proved themselves to be innocent or reformed a second chance at 100% citizenship. Thanks again for the great conversation.

John Miller Larry Akers – I think you’re still confusing Rights and Privileges. Human beings are endowed with their Rights by God not the government.

While one man may forcefully prevent another man from exercising his Rights, a human being can never “lose” his Rights and therefore never “regain” his Rights.

Now Privileges can be granted by Man and therefore taken away by Man and then perhaps “re-granted” by Man as many times as you like.

Thomas Gildersleeve Got arrested as a youth myself. A few fist fights. Been 17 years and I stick to myself. Same as above; wife kids, house, 2 jobs. The biggest thing is jobs. In my state they can and most do look back 25 years. I mean, when does it stop? A 15 year old kid doesn’t know that there actions would have a lifetime of punishment.

Larry Akers John, I’m quite aware of the difference and have explained my reasoning. Piss off.

Cindy Wisner

I had the privilege of standing alongside my good friend John Moore today on the steps of the Federal Court House in Las Vegas protesting the arrest of Cliven Bundy prior to his hearing. Michele Fiore was either in Portland or California today working on the same issue – it is hard to keep up with her she moves so fast and works so hard. As we were driving home from a town hall meeting in Utah last night Michele was in the back seat trying to book a flight for today.

We counted about 150 people at the protest at the peak around noon. Of course, the liberal media is calling me a kook already for even mentioning God and prayer. If they don’t like how we, as Christians, trust in God and pray to him, they can take that issue up with him when they meet him face to face. Meanwhile I will wear the title of kook proudly.

I’d like to extend the request of prayer to everyone across our nation regarding these 40+ Americans who have become political prisoners for exercising their first and second amendment rights.

John Holman (Psa 35:1) A Psalm of David. Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.
(Psa 35:2) Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.
(Psa 35:3) Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.
(Psa 35:4) Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.
(Psa 35:5) Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.
(Psa 35:6) Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.
(Psa 35:7) For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.
(Psa 35:8) Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.
(Psa 35:9) And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.
(Psa 35:10) All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?
(Psa 35:11) False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.
(Psa 35:12) They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.

Assemblywoman Shelly Shelton I appreciate all the kind words. 20 years ago it didn’t take too much prep to make a speech. But after 17 years of being just a mom now I have to practice a few times before I speak. This time I got the phone call that my daughter-in-laws water had broken just about the time I finished writing it and was an hour late to the event. I apologize for the phone, but thought the message was important even if the messenger is weak.
